A piece of land | Soil, Nylon sack bamboo stick and cloth | 38 x 60 x 137 cm | 2012

The desire of power has an innate capacity ‘to com-modify and acquire’. Being always there, this absurdity is sometimes more transparent than usual. A sack filled with soil represents a land as a piece of commodity. The flag fixed on the top is a gesture of claiming an authority. The work “A Piece of Land” is a satirical account on the idea of power, ownership and ongoing historic conflicts over a piece of land. The earth (soil) was shipped to Dubai from Lahore Pakistan, where the work was executed.
